LEISURE SERVICES PONDERS ON PLAY

SRE or CEE: that is the question!  Dear Hamlet, the answer is both!  For all those who get lost in a world of acrynims, abbreviations, and random dialect, here, in a nut shell, is the answer:

Twice a year Sullivan County Community College offers a cornacopia of classes ranging from Sports to Drum Circle, Computers to Cooking, Physical Fitness to a focus of highlighted specialties. These classes are called CEE – College of Educational Enrichment.  The classes range from $75- $90 and take place on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8pm.  To be on a college campus, with academia in the air, learning becomes second nature!  New Hope Community along with collateral sister agencies all participate in this program- giving opportunities for socialization and community connections.

New Hope Community offers their own variety of inspirational and educational programs, we refer to these collective classes  as the SRE, or, School of Recreational Enrichment.  January 2012 kicked off the first quarter of program with Paint a Peace Ceramic Classes, Traditional Print Making, From Greenhouse to Home (a class in making natural beauty products from the garden), Special Olympics basketball, Snow Shoe Training, and Talent Show rehearsal classes.  These classes are offered on the beautiful Loch Sheldrake campus of New Hope Community and are free.  SRE’s combine New Hope talent with community inspiration and promise to offer unlimited opportunity for success.

Shakespeare would surely be honored to partake in such educational opportunities!  So yes -  SRE AND CEE:  That is the answer!

Fondly,

Devon Cameron
Director of Enrichment
