16th Annual Wallace Berkowitz Cup

This event brings together 150 supporters of New Hope’s larger Community each year. Family members, people served by New Hope, Vendors, representatives of community organizations, and friends alike enjoy a beautiful day on the greens. This event raises much-needed funds that support programs like The Stables at McCoy Meadows, Hope Farm, Holistic Wellness, and others.
Our yearly tournament honors the late Wallace Berkowitz, born in New York City, who made Sullivan County his home in 1960. He graduated from the Bronx School of Science and the City College of New York. A US Army Veteran, he served during the Korean War and was part of the Army Audit Agency.
Wally, a CPA, practiced accounting in Monticello and Liberty for 20 years and was an active stakeholder in civic community organizations. Wally began serving on the New Hope Community Board of Directors in 1989. During his tenure, he served as Board Chair from 1994 to 2004 and as Assistant Secretary from New Hope Community has flourished as a direct result of his presence, leadership, and, most importantly his humanity.
