Make a Gift from Your IRA
If you’re 70½ or older, there’s a simple way to make a big impact at New Hope Community while potentially lowering your taxable income: an IRA charitable rollover (also called a Qualified Charitable Distribution).
As a proud grandmother of a young man who calls New Hope Community his home, I am writing to share a deeply personal story and encourage you to join me in making a meaningful difference in the lives of so many deserving people and their families.
Every year, I am required to take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from my Individual Retirement Account (IRA). Like many of you, I have carefully planned for my retirement, but when faced with the RMD requirement, I began to think about how I could turn this obligation into an opportunity to give back. That’s when I decided to direct my RMD to New Hope Community, a place that has deeply impacted my grandson’s life and the lives of countless others.
For my grandson, New Hope Community is more than just a home—it’s a place of growth, discovery, and joy.
It’s a place where he is surrounded by people who care deeply about his well-being, his independence, and his dreams. Through programs like Hope Farm, the Stables at McCoy Meadow, and the Living Arts Center, he has flourished, building confidence, skills, and relationships that bring him happiness and purpose. But the impact doesn’t stop there. These programs also provide peace of mind to families like mine, knowing that our loved ones are supported and thriving in a community that truly understands their needs.
Making my annual contribution through my IRA was a simple process, and it brought me tremendous joy to know that my gift was helping to sustain and expand the vital programs at New Hope. Not only does this method of giving allow me to fulfill my RMD requirement, but it also provides an opportunity to make a tax-free charitable contribution directly from my IRA. It’s a powerful way to make a lasting impact while meeting a financial obligation.
I encourage those of you who are 70½ years or older and eligible for an RMD to consider directing your distribution to New Hope Community. Together, we can ensure that programs like Hope Farm and equine therapy continue to enrich lives, nurture potential, and bring hope to people and families who need it most. Your gift, no matter the size, will flow through the lives of the people supported by New Hope and their families, ensuring a brighter future for generations to come.
With deep gratitude,
Anne Sweazey
A proud grandmother and supporter of New Hope Community
