We believe health is the cornerstone of quality of life

Health and well-being are paramount concerns to all of us at New Hope Community. Our comprehensive Health Services are designed to address the unique needs of individuals with developmental disabilities.  This stellar team includes Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Nursing Assistants and a Health Services Coordinator.  This team plays a vital role at New Hope Community and looks at the whole person, their specific needs and how to best support each person with an integrated approach to care. They are key players in each person’s support team and are role models in providing quality healthcare.  They provide the support and teach them and our own staff to make their own decisions when it comes to their health and medical needs.

Everyone is on the same page when it comes to health

The Health Services team not only embodies quality healthcare delivery at New Hope Community, but works closely with our Medical Director, local hospitals, as well as collaborating with specialty hospitals and physicians.  Having access to and strong relationships with specialty hospitals such as The Hospital for Special Surgery and NYU Seizure Disorder Clinic, both located in New York City, allows access to specialty services and ensures that all medical and psychiatric needs of those we support are met.

Additionally, the Registered Nurses at New Hope Community have the ongoing responsibility to ensure all support staff is trained to improve New Hope Community’s ability to provide quality services and accurately perform all services that are required. This includes following proper dietary guidelines, accurate administration of medications and insulin, basic first aid skills and use of adaptive equipment relevant to the individual’s living environment. In addition, all specific care is provided by the Registered Nurses for the areas they are responsible for with ongoing monitoring.

New Hope Community makes a Licensed Practical Nurse available on our main campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week allowing for enteral feedings, insulin administration, for other medical instances that may arise and for consult with our direct support professionals.
