If you were to ask anyone at New Hope Community about David, they’d say he loves music, going to work at ShopRite, and spending time with his friends.

While they’d be right, David was extremely excited to share more about his life in his own words. Get to know David and all that he’s been up to below!

Q: Can you tell us a bit about your history with New Hope Community?

A: I’ve been living here at New Hope since 2018 or 2019. To be honest, when I first moved here it was a big change, and I was a bit nervous. Being away from my family for the first time, meeting new staff, it was all very nerve-wracking. I didn’t know who anyone was, and it was a new challenge and put my skills to the test. Now, I have accomplished so many things, and I’m very happy here. I am proud of my progress.

Q: I see you work at ShopRite as a Service Clerk. How long have you had that job?

A: By next year, it’s going to be 10 years.

Q: What’s your favorite part of your job?

A: I really love my fellow employees, and I enjoy the tasks I have to do, like bagging and doing returns. When I was first starting there, I knew there were a lot of things I would have to prepare for, and new people. Sometimes change can be bad and difficult, but the changes are still good things about life.

Q: You recently received the Outstanding Customer Service Award at work. How did that make you feel?

A: I would say that I felt honored to receive it. It showed me that they recognized my work ethic. It showed that someone would say, “Hey, guys, everyone, look at David. David works hard.”

Q: What’s your favorite thing to do in your spare time?

A: I like to do my chores, and for even more fun I like to go to WOW program. I love everything about WOW, especially seeing my friends and doing fun things. I also love listening to my favorite band, STRYPER.
