Q: Can you tell us a bit about your journey to New Hope Community?
A: I always thought I’d build my career in the nonprofit space, but volunteering as an EMT inspired me to pursue law enforcement. After an unexpected life change, I found my way back – this time to fundraising and advocacy is shaped by my own lived experience. Discovering New Hope has been the perfect fit; it allows me to merge my personal passions with the professional purpose I hold in this work.
Q: What’s your favorite part of your job?
A: The people. Seeing the connection between building relationships in our community and fundraising with a purpose to create impact on the lives of our people has been inspiring. I love witnessing the joy they experience when trying new things, much of which is made possible through fundraising efforts.
Q: What is the most challenging part?
A: I’d have to say outside people’s perspective on fundraising and getting through all that noise.
Q: Favorite TV show, movie, or song you’ve had on repeat lately?
A: As of right now, the Great British Baking Show. I’m preparing to defend my title as Cupcake Champion (self-proclaimed Cupcake Queen) for our upcoming second annual New Hope Holiday Bake-Off.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A: I see myself here at New Hope, having built more relationships, created more programs, and helped grow the organization. My ultimate goal is to help continue New Hope Community’s expansion and listen to our people along the way to ensure they’re getting as much out of their lives here as possible.
Q: What would you tell someone new to supporting New Hope Community?
A: I would tell them that they are in a wonderfully unique position to make dreams come true and lend a sense of newness and excitement to the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities that they may not have had otherwise.
