Vinny
Vinny has been part of the New Hope Community since 2019. At 28 years old, he stays engaged in his WOW program and the New Hope Knights Special Olympics team, where he enjoys trying different sports, building friendships, and being part of the action.
For Vinny, being involved means having the chance to do a little bit of everything.
“I like everything,” he says with a smile.
One of the places he shines most is on the field with the New Hope Knights. Vinny participates in several sports, but flag football is his favorite. One moment that still stands out to him is helping secure a big win during last year’s highly anticipated Buffalo Bowl.
“I got the last win in one of the games,” he says proudly. “It felt good.”
While competition is exciting, Vinny says the best part about being on a team is the friendships that come with it.
“You make friends,” he explains. “It’s better than not being part of a team because I have people to share things with.”
Outside of sports and participating in programs, Vinny enjoys keeping things simple and relaxing.
One of his favorite ways to spend his free time is going for rides in the car, enjoying the scenery and the calm that comes with it.
When it’s time to eat, he’s quick to name a favorite meal. “Italian food is my favorite, especially lasagna,” he says.
For Vinny, one of the best things about being part of New Hope is the independence it brings, along with the support of the staff around him.
“I get to live basically the way I want, with help from the staff,” he says.
Whether he’s competing on the field, spending time with friends, or just enjoying a ride, Vinny brings enthusiasm and positivity to everything he does!
